The May 4 video is of Kangpokpi District, which is 35 kilometers from Manipur’s capital, Imphal. The video has prompted calls for immediate action. In this instance, the police have reported that a FIR has been filed. The accused will be apprehended as soon as action is taken.
The confrontations erupted after a ‘tribal solidarity march’ was organized in the hill districts on 3 May to protest the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. The violence has claimed the lives of 120 individuals. The video depicts the date of May 4.
According to the news agency PTI, the Indigenous Tribal Leader Forum (ITLF) stated, “In a video that has gone viral on social media, a community mob can be seen removing two women from near a farm.” In addition, gang rape has been committed against them.
ITLF appealed to the National Commission for Women and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes to take action, stating that criminals circulated videos depicting the horrific torture of these innocent women. It reveals the names of the victims.

General Secretary of the Congress Priyanka Gandhi has demanded strict action in response. He stated, “The images of s__xual violence against women originating in Manipur are heartbreaking. Less condemnation has been expressed for this horrifying act of violence against women.
Priyanka Gandhi stated, “Women and children bear the brunt of society’s violence the most.” We must all condemn the violence with one voice while advancing peace efforts in Manipur. Why is the Central Government and the Prime Minister ignoring the violence in Manipur? Do such images and acts of violence not disturb them?

The president of the Tripura Party, Motha Pradyot Bikram Manikyot Deb Burma, stated that this issue is disturbing. He stated, “Mobs are stealing nude women. Hatred has triumphed in Manipur.”
Congressman Rahul Gandhi tweeted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on Manipur is causing pandemonium. He stated that India will not remain mute until the Indian Idea is under attack. We stand with the Manipuri people. Peace is the only means of progress.
Let us inform you that during the monsoon session of Parliament beginning on Thursday, the violence in Manipur will be discussed. Other opposition parties, including the Congress, raised the issue of Manipur during Wednesday’s all-party meeting convened by the Central Government. Minister of Parliamentary Affairs for the Union Prahlad Joshi stated that we are willing to discuss this matter.
